Josh brings over a decade of building services engineering experience. He joined Max Fordham as a graduate in 2011 and rose to Team Leader across the practice’s London and Bristol studios, mentoring five graduate engineers along the way. At Atamate he stepped up as Building Services Engineer and Housing Lead, driving technical strategy across the consultancy and research team and shaping product development, technical sales and client relationships.

His track record includes standout projects across the arts and higher education sectors, among them the Courtauld Institute of Art (Stirling Prize shortlisted) and the Cohen Quadrangle at Exeter College, Oxford, winner of the Architecture MasterPrize and a RIBA award. His portfolio also spans major multi-residential schemes, including Wood Wharf and the Stirling Prize shortlisted Somerstown Community Hub & Housing.

He specialises in low energy, sustainable building design, with a sharp focus on retrofit coordination and risk management. Josh has experience using PHPP, SAP, IES and Dialux. He also keeps a foot in academia as a visiting lecturer at the Graduate School of the Environment.

This is underpinned by a First Class MEng in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from the University of Bristol (2011) and a First Class MSc in Sustainability and Adaptation in the Built Environment from the Centre for Alternative Technology’s Graduate School of the Environment. He added a Level 5 Diploma in Retrofit Coordination and Risk Management in 2024, sharpening a career-long focus on low energy design.
Josh is a Chartered Engineer, and a registered member of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).
