The visitor entrance at Westonbirt has been improved by creating a new formal car park and ticketing building, which has allowed a large area of parkland landscape to be reinstated that had previously been used for ad-hoc parking.

The welcome building includes a learning centre an interpretation space as well as WCs and staff office accommodation. Heating is provided using an air to water heat pump with underfloor heating throughout. The building is naturally ventilated with cross ventilation to the main interpretation space. Lighting is via a combination of LED and fluorescent luminaires.

The design has achieved BREEAM “Excellent” rating.
