The residential development at Sladebrook Road in Bath comprises three 4-bed detached and six 3-bed semi detached low energy houses. The buildings are designed on a fabric first basis with high insulation levels, good air tightness and high efficiency glazing. The glazing is optimised for good daylight, maximised beneficial solar gain, and control for overheating. E3 carried out extensive overheating analysis using TM59 methodology to optimise the glazing and shading configurations.

The development has been designed to comply with Bath and North East Somerset Council’s sustainability requirements and incorporates low energy systems with optimised renewable energy. Calculations were carried out using the latest SAP analysis software, and we worked closely with the client, architect and structural engineer to establish the best approach. The houses were constructed sustainably, are very low carbon with a range of energy efficient measures including air source heat pumps and solar panels.
