The building is 100m2 with a fully glazed south elevation. E3’s design comprises a heating and cooling scheme with air source heat pump and fresh air ventilation using a heat recovery mechanical ventilation system. Supply and extract grilles are concealed into a timber batten feature ceiling, not visible to occupants.
A new incoming LV supply was required to support the electrical installations. The internal fit out comprised small power, lighting, data for the gym equipment and an AV installation.
The 15m by 3m front elevation is a single piece of glazing, which is one of the largest in the world. E3 carried out thermal simulation to tune the glazing specification to ensure compliance with Part L of the building regulations.
The lighting is also integrated into the feature ceiling with continuous linear LED ribbon luminaires mounted between timber battens. The system is controllable using a scene set controller.
