The Villa at Chedworth is one of the most important Roman buildings in the UK, and a scheduled ancient monument.
We worked closely with the National Trust and FCBS to design a new shelter building to protect the existing fabric. As part of our work we developed a passive approach to controlling the environmental conditions within the shelters. There were also refurbishment and remodelling works to the visitor and education facilities.
The buildings are heated using air source heat pumps, and include rainwater harvesting and a borehole for drinking water extraction. HLF funded, winner of both RIBA National and South West Awards 2013.
