The award-winning project is a 210 pupil Passivhaus primary school at a site near the previous school at Bushbury, Wolverhampton. The new school is a two-storey timber-framed building with high levels of insulation and triple glazed windows, which replaced the existing school.
The high level of insulation and airtight building construction resulted in low heating loads for the internal spaces. Ventilation strategies consist of natural ventilation in the summer and mechanical ventilation for the rest of the year.
It is one of first schools in the country to achieve the Passivhaus accreditation. Winner of “New Build of The Year” CIBSE 2013.
