The North Block at Marlborough College dates from the 1890s. It is of traditional brickwork construction with steel framework and timber floors. The building includes nine humanities classrooms, reading rooms and The Memorial Library, which is on the first floor.
The project is being delivered over three phases, with phase 1 and 2 completed and phase 3 (the library refurbishment) to follow. The first two phases comprised refurbishment of classrooms, circulation and plant areas including a complete replacement of M&E systems, while working around the constraints of the school calendar. The building remained fully operational during term-time throughout the project.
The library refurbishment will be the final phase of the scheme and is at a concept level of a design.
