Hotel Barcelona is a Victorian listed building near the city centre in Exeter. Previously an eye hospital, it was converted to a hotel in 2000. The scheme involved a complete refurbishment of the existing bedrooms and public areas, and the provision of additional guest bedrooms primarily in a new contemporary roof extension. In addition, a new spa is included in the garden. The refurbishment includes new heating and comfort cooling throughout the hotel, using heat recovery air source heat pump technology. A solar thermal system contributes to the swimming pool heating and hot water demands.  Completed June 2012.
