We have been involved with a number existing and historic buildings. Our portfolio includes listed buildings, such as Ditherington Flax Mill in Shrewsbury, and ancient monuments including the National Trust’s Chedworth Roman Villa near Cirencester. Each building requires a unique approach to ensure that the existing fabric is respected and that the collections contained are provided with the correct environment.

The design of the mechanical and electrical installation needs special care in historic environments.  Archaeological and landscape constraints often dictate the route and method of buried services, and the routes of services through buildings respond to the constraints of any existing structure. The treatment of the façade is of primary importance so we work closely to minimise the visual impact of the building systems externally.
