Nigel Griffiths. MA(Cantab), CEng, FIMechE, FIET, FCIBSE, MICE

Nigel was formerly the Senior Partner of Ernest Griffiths Consulting Engineers and now works as a self employed consultant. Amongst other commitments Nigel acts as a senior consultant to E3, providing high level engineering and commercial advice.

He was educated at Jesus College, Cambridge University, where he read for the Mechanical Sciences Tripos followed by Part II in Management Studies.  He was awarded the university's prize for highest first class honours.

Nigel's career in the building services industry began in 1970 as a Site Engineer with Drake & Scull Engineering Ltd, who specialised in building services. He then joined Ernest Griffiths Consulting Engineers specialising in building services, as a design/project engineer and soon became a Partner. For many years he was Senior Partner of the firm, and having been personally involved in the technical aspects of the great majority of the firm's projects.

Nigel's project portfolio includes a diverse range of innovative, complex and award winning schemes. He pioneered several exemplar low energy buildings including Powergen's Headquarters in Coventry and the Sophos Headquarters in Abingdon.

More recently, he has acted as expert witness on a considerable number of major engineering matters. These include the court case arising from defects in the wiring in the British Library which incurred additional contract costs of tens of millions of pounds. The written judgement described Nigel Griffiths as a "most impressive witness" and adopted his opinion in full.
