Hugh Griffiths. MEng, CEng, MIMechE, MICE

Hugh read Engineering Science New College, Oxford University, where he specialised in Mechanical and Civil Engineering and graduated with a 1st Class honours degree. He won a university prize for performance in finals examinations.

On graduating, Hugh joined Atkins in their Bristol office.  He worked on a number of projects in the Nuclear, Rail, and Aerospace industries. During his time with Atkins he gathered a diverse range of experience from finite element analysis of jet engines, to project management on site at King’s Cross Station in London. As a result, he became a chartered engineer and Member of both the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) and Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE).

Hugh joined Ernest Griffiths Consulting Engineers in 2005 and worked with Andy Jarvis in the Bath office as an Associate Mechanical Engineer. Since then he has developed extensive experience in building services engineering and has been central to the daily management of the practice. Hugh became a founding partner of E3 Consulting Engineers in 2010.

Hugh has been lead project engineer on a number of schemes in the education, commercial, retail, and leisure sectors. He has particular interest in passive design and the iterative use of thermal simulation to optimise the energy performance of buildings.  He is registered as a Low Carbon Consultant with the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE).
